West Side Little League

OVERVIEW

WSLL is an all volunteer organization that relies heavily on volunteers in the community to donate their time and talent to our program. If interested in volunteering or want to learn more, please contact one of the WSLL Board Members.

  • Coaching:  Coaching young athletes can be a very rewarding experience and a great way to have a positive impact on their lives. We will provide all the coaching resources and support you need.

  • Be a Sponsor:  Sponsoring a team is a great way to make a positive contribution to the community while advertising your company's brand and services.
  • Field Maintenance Volunteer: Help clean up the ball park, be a role model by throwing away your trash and if you see someone drop trash, help them place it in the trash receptacles appropriately.  During rainy days, we need help removing water from the fields, raking the fields, and placing playing diamond to ensure the games are playable.

  • Join the Board of Directors: If you can spare just a few hours per month, please consider joining the WSLL board.  The minimum expectation is to attend the monthly meetings to help make decisions about the operations and direction of the organization.  See About Us for a listing of board members.  The annual meeting in October of each year is when the new board is voted in.  Please visit WSLL's Facebook page for event listings.

WHY SHOULD I BECOME A VOLUNTEER?

Little League International is an organization designed to build good citizens. It is a program of leadership, preparing today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. At the local level, WSLL relies on adult volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly.  WSLL is always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate events and activities. As a volunteer, you should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children. By reading further, you will discover that the benefits of volunteering are endless. You will also gain a better understanding of why you should become involved, who volunteers are, what you can do, and how you can sign up.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?

Anyone can apply to become a volunteer. Whatever talents or skills you have, we can use them! Volunteers are grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, retirees, community leaders, former Little Leaguers, friends, neighbors, and more. Any community member who wishes to become a volunteer may apply.

All parents of children involved in WSLL are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a parent volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. Often times, parent and child social lives parallel each other. Volunteering allows your life and your child's life to intersect on common ground, with shared interests and goals.

On rare occasions, the WSLL Board of Directors may deny individuals the privilege of volunteering for reasons, past or present, that may be detrimental to the positive development of young people, other volunteers, and/or WSLL. When you apply to become a volunteer, you give WSLL the right to conduct necessary background checks.
